1,200 to be screened daily as GAF resumes recruitment exercise today

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the Greater Accra Region will resume its recruitment exercise today, Thursday, November 20, 2025. This follows the temporary suspension of the process at the El-Wak Sports Stadium after a stampede on Wednesday, November 12, which claimed six lives.

President John Dramani Mahama directed the GAF to pause the exercise after the tragedy so that safety procedures could be reviewed and the screening system restructured to prevent any future incident.

According to the GAF, new, strict measures have now been introduced to ensure a safe and organised process. One of the major changes is the creation of five separate screening centres to control the flow of applicants and ease overcrowding.

The Director-General of Public Affairs at the GAF, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, said the new arrangements will limit the number of applicants allowed in each day. She stated that only 1,200 applicants will be screened daily…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
