20-year-old jailed 25 years in Kasoa

The Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court has sentenced 20-year-old Mohamed Bello to 25 years in prison with hard labour for his involvement in a robbery incident on the Kasoa–Winneba highway.

The Central East Regional Police Command arrested Bello following the robbery, which took place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, between Gomoa Buduatta Junction and Dabani. During the attack, the suspects reportedly opened fire on a passenger vehicle, injuring four commuters.

He was captured while trying to flee with his accomplices, who remain at large. A search conducted on Bello led to the recovery of several stolen items, including GH¢3,740 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, a power bank, a lady’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, and weapons.

After investigations, Bello appeared before the Ofankor Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and was sentenced to 25 years in prison with hard labour.
