How do I apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships?
To apply for Dalhousie University scholarships, please follow the steps outlined below.
1. Access the FGS Scholarship Management Platform. If you already have a Dalhousie NetID, please log in using “Use Dalhousie NetID”. If not, please enter an email address and set up a password. Even if you plan to apply for several opportunities, you only need to register one account.
2. Select “My applications” on your home page to create a new scholarship application or amend an existing one. Each applicant will be allowed to submit just one application per competition, so please do not submit multiple Harmonized Scholarship applications.
3. Master’s applicants who apply to the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition may choose to use their CGS-M application in the Harmonized Scholarship Process. To do so, pick “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as the submission category and complete the application. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will link your CGS-M application to your opt-in form, which will include the reference letters and transcripts you submitted for the Tri-Agency CGSM competition. The Opt-in date is December 1st, which coincides with Tri-Agency’s CGS-M application deadline. If you do not opt-in with your CGS-M application, you must submit a full Harmonized Scholarship Application to be considered for additional rewards.
4. All applicants are urged to complete the self-identification questionnaire available through the Online Scholarship Platform. This enables administrators to guarantee that candidates are routed through the review process for award opportunities with particular eligibility requirements. Information given in this questionnaire is not accessible to reviewers and will be kept totally confidential.
5. To navigate the application, click “Next” at the bottom of each page. Clicking “Save” allows the applicant to close the application and come back to it later to change or update it.
6. Official transcripts must be collected and uploaded by the candidate directly to the scholarship portal, following the requirements in the application. FGS will not give copies of transcripts from admission applications. Transcripts from numerous universities must be compiled into a single PDF prior to submitting. Unofficial grade records for current Dalhousie students may be used instead of official transcripts in the harmonised scholarship process.
7. All reference letters must be submitted through the site by January 16, 2024 (or February 15, for non-thesis applicants). The application portal will be closed to applicants and references after this date, and incomplete applications will not be forwarded for consideration. Reference letters will not be accepted by email or printed copy. It is strongly advised that candidates notify their references of a deadline a few days to one week before January 14, in case of unanticipated crises or technological difficulties. Applicants will receive an email notification from the site, and a “received” notation will display in red next to each referee’s name after their reference is complete. Please check the status of references regularly before the deadline.
8. Accept the terms and conditions before clicking “Save and Finalise” to finish and submit the application.
Note: You may withdraw your application until the January 15 deadline to make adjustments, such as updating your transcripts with autumn grades or making edits based on department input. If you withdraw your application, you must resubmit it before January 15th to be considered.
