23-year-old Barcelona transfer target makes national team debut

The Polish striker has been outstanding despite his age and remains a major threat, as shown by his recent hat-trick against Celta Vigo. Still, at 37, his time in European football may be approaching its final stages.

One of the players linked with Barcelona as a possible future replacement is Ligue 1 standout Joaquin Panichelli. Until this season, the 23-year-old was relatively unknown, but his performances have quickly made him a rising star.

After a brilliant loan spell at Mirandés in Spain’s second division—where he scored 21 goals and made 8 assists in 44 games—Panichelli has continued his impressive form in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, scoring 9 goals in 12 matches and currently leading the league’s scoring chart.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the young forward is progressing rapidly and recently made his international debut for Argentina in their 2–0 win over Angola, replacing Lionel Messi in the 86th minute.

He almost scored moments later but sent his shot over the bar. Still, the chance showed how quickly his reputation is growing, and it may only be a matter of time before he becomes widely recognised.
