24-Hour Economy will send you back to opposition – NDC warned
Dr. Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, a Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), has taken a swipe at the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing their 24-hour economy policy as deceptive and a path that will return them to opposition.

In a sharp critique, Dr. Brobbey questioned the NDC’s promise to reduce the cost of living—particularly electricity—pointing out that electricity tariffs have increased by over 17% within just seven months under their administration.
“We are waiting to eat ‘Wakye’ at night and 24-hours, welders to get cheaper cost of light. This same 24-hour economy promise will be their downfall. The NDC has lied to Ghanaians. The evidence is there—tariffs are going up while they claim otherwise. Where is the relief they promised?” he asked.
Dr. Brobbey disclosed that he has compiled all available documents on the 24-hour economy policy and will soon release a detailed breakdown to expose what he describes as inconsistencies and misinformation within the policy.
He stressed that instead of bringing relief, the NDC’s promises have resulted in increased hardship, particularly due to the rising cost of electricity, and said there is no clear sign that the 24-hour economy will bring any real change.
He concluded that the failure of the policy, coupled with unfulfilled promises, will eventually push the NDC back into opposition after the 2028 elections.
