45-year-old man shot dead inside Mosque while resisting attempt by gunmen to kidnap him

Confirming the tragic incident,Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication reported that, the attack happened on Friday, August 30, around 8:30 pm, while evening Ishai prayers were going on.

Eyewitnesses explained that about seven armed men suddenly stormed the mosque during prayers as their main target was Alhaji Dahiru, whom they attempted to abduct.

However, the victim strongly resisted their attempt. In response, the attackers shot him at close range, killing him instantly, before escaping from the scene on motorcycles.

After the gunmen left, local residents gathered at the mosque and discovered two empty AK-47 bullet shells lying on the ground, showing the type of weapon used in the attack.

The killing threw the community into serious confusion and fear, as many worshippers who were present during the attack were left traumatized.

Lamenting over what happened,community members described Dahiru as a peaceful man who was devoted to his faith and well respected by his people.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has appealed to the authorities for the immediate release of his body so that he can be buried in line with Islamic burial rites.
