6 musicians that died too soon and still had music released after their deaths

When an artist dies, sometimes their estate (whoever has the rights to their music) will allow the release of a posthumous album.

That’s what you call work that is released after a creative’s death. Some of our favorite artists died too soon but have posthumous releases that help their die-hard fans find some closure. If one of your favs is on this list, you’ll be able to find the final album that they released here:

Legends Never Die – Juice Wrld

Juice Wrld (Jarad Anthony Higgins) was born on December 2, 1998 and passed on December 8, 2019 as a result of an accidental overdose. The album Legends Never Die was released seven months after the artiste’s death and topped the Billboard album chart.

Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon – Pop Smoke

Pop Smoke (Bashar Jackson) was born on July 20, 1999 and passed earlier this year—on February 19, 2020. Pop Smoke was fatally shot by four armed men who entered the Hollywood Hills house where the rapper was staying. He died a few hours later in the hospital (source: Vulture). The album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon was released on July 3, 2020 and topped the Billboard 200 chart.

Circles – Mac Miller

Mac Miller (Malcom James McCornick) was born on January 19, 1992 and passed on September 7, 2018. Mac Miller died of an accidental drug overdose (source: Wikipedia). The posthumous album by the rapper, Circles, was released two years after his death on January 17, 2020. The album has several accolades including Billboard‘s 50 Best Albums of 2020–Mid-Year.

Skins // Bad Vibes Forever – XXXTentacion

XXXTentacion (Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) was born on January 23, 1998 and was assassinated on June 18, 2018. His posthumous albums, Skins and Bad Vibes Forever were released in 2018 and 2019 respectively. His final album Bad Vibes Forever failed to match the chart success of his previous albums and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.

TIM- Avicii

Avicii (Tim Bergling) was a Swedish DJ, remixer, record producer, musician and song writer. He was born on September 8, 1989 and died April 20, 2018. According to TMZ, the cause of his death was suicide due to self-inflicted injuries. The posthumous album TIM was released in 2019.

4Ever- Prince

Prince Rogers Nelson was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. And he is widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation. He was born on June 7, 1958 and died April 21, 2016. Prince died as a result of an accidental overdose (source: History.com). The posthumous album 4Ever is a greatest hits album that was released on November 22, 2016.
