72% Ghanaians positive prices of goods and services will drop within the next 6 months

A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics shows that many Ghanaians believe the prices of goods and services will go down in the next six months, reflecting strong economic optimism.

The poll, led by Mussa K. Dankwah, Pollster and Head of Research at Global InfoAnalytics, found that 55% of voters expect prices to drop within the next half-year.

In contrast, only 19% think prices will rise, while the rest either expect prices to remain the same or had no opinion.

The survey also showed a strong sense of hope for the future, with 72% of voters believing their standard of living will improve over the next 12 months. Only 16% expect things to get worse.

The online survey was carried out from May 10 to May 20, 2025, using probability random sampling. It gathered responses from 1,092 people and has a 99% confidence level with a ±3.82% margin of error.

This optimism is mostly linked to Ghana’s recent economic achievements. The Ghanaian Cedi has strengthened, becoming one of the best-performing currencies in the world in 2025, which has helped reduce the cost of imported items.

Inflation has also dropped steadily, reaching 18.4% in May 2025 — the lowest since February 2022.

This decline in inflation has helped households by improving their purchasing power.

Experts and international institutions like FocusEconomics and the African Development Bank (AfDB) predict that inflation will keep falling in 2025, with some expecting it to hit single digits by 2026.

The government’s efforts to manage spending under the IMF program, along with increased foreign reserves from strong gold and cocoa exports, have helped stabilize the economy.

Meanwhile, the government has introduced policies to reduce the cost of living, such as raising LEAP grants to support vulnerable families affected by inflation. Public confidence in future price stability has grown due to these measures.

The Global InfoAnalytics survey highlights that many Ghanaians believe the current economic progress will continue, improving their lives and easing the burden of high prices.
