Dangerous sleeping styles and how they contribute to body problems
Many people underestimate the impact that sleeping positions can have on their overall health. The way you sleep each night can either support your body’s natural alignment or slowly contribute to chronic pain and other health issues.

One of the most dangerous sleeping styles is sleeping on your stomach. While it may feel comfortable for some, this position forces the neck into an unnatural twist and can lead to long-term neck and spine problems.
It also puts pressure on internal organs, particularly the lungs and stomach, making breathing more difficult.
Sleeping in a fetal position curled tightly with knees close to the chest can restrict deep breathing and cause joint or back stiffness, especially if the body is not supported properly with a good mattress and pillow.
Another problematic style is sleeping with your arm under your head or pillow, which can compress nerves and reduce blood flow, leading to numbness or tingling in the arms.
Lack of proper support while sleeping can also worsen posture and contribute to lower back pain. The best recommended position is on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your side with a pillow between your legs.
