Wontumi TV presenter denied bail despite plea citing welfare of six children (VIDEO)

The Accra Circuit Court has denied bail to Wontumi TV presenter, Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, despite a passionate plea from his lawyer citing the welfare of his six children.

His legal counsel, Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah, described the court’s decision as a “miscarriage of justice” during an interview with journalists after the proceedings.

“We pleaded under the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, Act 30, as well as the Children’s Act, for the court to grant Akyenkwaa bail,” Mr. Afoakwah stated.

“He has six children, and the eldest is only 14 years old. His children are very young, and with their mother away, he is their sole caregiver.”

He added that the rights of children should have been a key consideration in the court’s decision.

“Children’s rights are paramount, and we expected the court to factor that into their ruling. Unfortunately, our request was denied,” the lawyer lamented…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
