I don’t agree with extending the presidential term – Presidential staffer

Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has dismissed suggestions to extend Ghana’s presidential term limit.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, she argued that effective governance is built on proper planning and strong systems, not on granting presidents additional years in office. She noted that even the United States, widely regarded as a model of democracy, maintains a four-year presidential term.

“I don’t agree with extending the presidential term. Even America, the doyen of democracy, has a four-year term. If a president is not performing, do we have to endure it for seven years?” she asked.

According to her, Ghana should prioritize strengthening institutions, adopting best practices, and introducing support structures such as spokespersons and shadow ministers with the right expertise to enhance governance.

“It doesn’t take seven years for someone’s mindset to change. We need systems that will help us, not extending presidential terms. It’s not a matter of years, it’s a matter of plan,” she stressed…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
