My daughter got aggregate 11 but got a school that looks like a kitchen – Woman cries out

The school placement system in Ghana has once again become a topic of discussion, as many people continue to express confusion about how it operates and how placements are determined.

Junior High School (JHS) graduates across the country have now received their school placements, but several parents and students say they cannot understand how certain students ended up in schools that do not seem to match their performance.

One frustrated mother has taken to social media to express her disappointment over the school her daughter was placed in, despite her impressive results.

In a video that has since gone viral, the woman explained that her daughter performed very well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and obtained an aggregate of 11. She expected that such a good result would earn her daughter a place in one of the top senior high schools. However, to her surprise, her daughter was placed in a school located in Takoradi, which she described as having a poor environment. The woman went as far as calling the school a “kitchen,” expressing how dissatisfied she was with the placement.

The video drew strong reactions from many Ghanaians online. Some sympathized with the mother and agreed that a student who scored aggregate 11 deserved to be in a better school that could nurture her potential.
