An arrogant person becomes worse when given power – Nana Akomea subtly jabs Ken Agyapong
Former Okaikwei South Member of Parliament, Nana Akomea, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to choose a humble and unifying leader as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during the second day of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “Our Journey Together” tour in the Bono East Region at Yeji in the Pru East Constituency, Nana Akomea said the NPP needs a leader who is not boastful, arrogant, or divisive in speech. He explained that only a leader with such qualities can bring the party together and lead it to victory in the next election.
“We [NPP] need a leader who is not boastful, arrogant, or divisive in speech because an arrogant person becomes worse when given power,” he said.
The former Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC) advised party delegates to look beyond mere popularity when choosing their next flagbearer and instead focus on someone who remains humble and cannot be easily corrupted by power.
“Dr Bawumia has served as Vice President for eight years and yet remains humble,” he added.
Nana Akomea praised Dr. Bawumia’s humility and said that none of the other four aspirants in the flagbearership race possess that same level of modesty and composure. He noted that these qualities, combined with Bawumia’s experience, make him the ideal candidate to lead the party into the 2028 elections.
According to him, replacing Dr. Bawumia as flagbearer would make no sense, given his proven track record and leadership abilities. “When it comes to experience, Dr Bawumia is a champion, and there is no need to replace him. One important quality to look out for in a leader of our party is good character — someone who remains approachable even after being elected president,” he said.
Nana Akomea’s remarks were well received by party faithful at the event, many of whom cheered in agreement as he highlighted the need for unity and humility within the NPP ahead of the next election…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
