Asiedu Nketiah will be president if… – Old Tafo MP cautions party members

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite and work together to recapture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.

In a video circulating on social media, Assafuah stressed the importance of unity within the party, saying that the NPP must come together regardless of who becomes the party’s flagbearer after the upcoming national delegates conference.

He explained that whether it is former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia or former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, all members must rally behind the chosen leader to strengthen the party’s chances in 2028.

Assafuah also warned that if the NPP fails to win back power after President John Dramani Mahama’s tenure, the NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, could eventually become president.

He continued, “After the elections, we need everyone on board to ensure we win the 2028 Election. If we fail, we will have His Excellency Asiedu Nketiah as president.”

Although Asiedu Nketiah has not officially declared his intention to contest in 2028, there is growing speculation that he may succeed Mahama as the NDC’s presidential candidate.
