Rare photos of Nana Konadu’s schools days suddenly pops up

Ghana is in deep mourning following the heartbreaking news of the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The respected stateswoman and philanthropist reportedly passed away at the Ridge Hospital in Accra on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a short illness.

According to reports, Madam Konadu was unwell in the early hours of that day but sadly did not survive. Her death comes almost five years after that of her husband, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings was widely celebrated for her lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment and social development. Through her initiatives, she helped many Ghanaian women gain confidence, education, and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

Following her passing, beautiful old photos of her during her youthful days at Achimota School and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have surfaced online. These images, which have since gone viral, show a graceful and radiant young Konadu — a reflection of the strength and elegance she carried throughout her life.
