He wanted to sleep with me and I said no – Woman assaulted by husband in viral video speaks
Harriet Amuzu, the woman seen in a viral video being assaulted by her estranged husband in Ofankor, has shared the painful story behind the incident.
She explained that although their marriage had broken down, her husband, John Odartey Lamptey, allegedly demanded sex from her. When she refused, he assaulted her, smeared pepper on her private parts, and attempted to force himself on her.
Harriet said she declined because they were already separated and she had moved out of their matrimonial home.
Speaking to TV3, she revealed that this was not the first time she had been abused. She said she had previously reported him to the Tesano and Ofankor Police Stations, but nothing was done, even though she provided evidence. The couple has two children, aged five and two.
Police arrested John Odartey Lamptey on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family house in Ofankor. Two of his siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, were also arrested for allegedly trying to attack a female tenant they believed recorded and shared the viral video.
All three have been remanded and are expected to reappear before the DOVVSU Magistrate Court on December 3, 2025.
According to Harriet, she had already moved back to her village before the incident in the video. On Saturday, November 15, 2025, while at a funeral, she received a call from Odartey Lamptey claiming their younger child was sick. She rushed back, leaving her village around 3 p.m. and arriving in Ofankor around 9 p.m.
When she got home, she saw the children playing and confronted him about lying. She said he then admitted he had lured her back. That night, he demanded sex again, but she refused, saying they had been separated for five months.
“I was at a funeral on Saturday in my hometown when he called to say that my younger son was ill and that I must return to cater for him. I only came home to find the kids playing, and I asked why he lied to me. At night, he wanted to have sex with me, I refused because we have been estranged for five months. He told me he had set a trap for me. He wanted to kill me,” Harriet recounted.
She said she planned to return to her village the next morning, but when she tried to get to her children, he stopped her and again said he had intentionally lured her.
Harriet explained that he called another child, Daniel, to take the children out of the room and then locked the door. It was then that the assault began.
She said he stripped her naked, removed her underwear and waist beads, saying they belonged to him. He beat her with a stick, stepped on her, and at one point took a knife and threatened to cut off her hand…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
