NDC MP’s are suffering – Afenyo-Markin
The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has claimed that some MPs on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are facing serious financial difficulties.

He alleged that several NDC MPs now rely on ride-hailing services like Uber to travel to Parliament every day.
Afenyo-Markin, who is also the MP for Efutu, said the MPs are struggling because they have not been given positions on any public boards. He noted that although MPs from both sides are experiencing financial pressure, the situation is worse for those on the ruling party’s side.
“Our brothers in the NDC, we are in parliament with them, and they are suffering. Some of them come to parliament with Uber. Some of them are in the backbench, and they are not on any board,” he said.
He added that despite their challenges, the NDC MPs have shown patience, discipline and strong loyalty to their party.
“They are suffering, but they have a common understanding that they have to take time for the party,” he noted. He encouraged Minority MPs from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to learn from the commitment demonstrated by their colleagues on the majority side of the House.
