Akua Donkor’s daughter, Mary, stirred emotion on social media after a video showed her weeping bitterly at the grave of her late mother.
The family of the late founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) visited her burial site to mark the first anniversary of her passing. Akua Donkor died at age 83 on October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. Her death was confirmed to the media a day later by a family source.
In a video seen by DailyNewsGhana, the family gathered at the graveside to commemorate the anniversary and unveiled a newly constructed tomb for the late politician and businesswoman. The tomb featured her image and the inscription:
“In loving memory of Madam Akua Donkor, founder of Ghana Freedom Party. Rest in peace.”
