NPP tried to manipulate that election in Kpandai – Mustapha Gbande
The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has expressed optimism that the party will emerge victorious in the Kpandai parliamentary election rerun.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Gbande said the party is fully prepared for the contest. He stated, “We are already on our way. We are doing preparations and campaigning hard, and we will win that seat.”
He took a swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the incumbent MP, Matthew Nyindam, questioning his relevance in Parliament. According to him, “Nyindam was in Kpandai doing campaign when the Minority was disrupting Parliament and needed numbers just to make noise. Of what use will it be to keep Nyindam in Parliament when their numbers will only be used for noise?”
Mr Gbande accused the NPP of attempting to rig the previous election, insisting that the people of Kpandai deserve better leadership. He said the NPP failed to develop the constituency during its eight years in power, adding that the NDC is the better option. “The people of Kpandai deserve better and a very peaceful constituency, but the NPP tried to manipulate that election. They did nothing for the constituency when they were in power for eight years, so it is best that the NDC wins,” he said.
He also dismissed suggestions that the NPP could benefit from sympathy votes, saying, “The NPP just wants a sympathy vote, but Ghanaians won’t give them that.”
However, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, disputed Mr Gbande’s claims during the same programme. He questioned whether the developments in Kpandai were positive and blamed the NDC for the confusion that occurred during the 2024 elections. He also criticised the government over what he described as poor economic performance.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to announce a timetable for the rerun, as political activities continue in the constituency.
While the NDC has welcomed the Tamale High Court’s decision to annul the earlier results, the NPP has rejected the ruling, questioning why the entire election is being rerun instead of only the affected polling stations.
Meanwhile, the incumbent MP, Matthew Nyindam, has filed notices of appeal and applied for a stay of execution against the court’s decision…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
