Diseases that share same symptoms with HIV/AIDS in the early stages

Is it true that the symptoms of HIV/AIDS can be caused by other illnesses or conditions? Many times, people mistake simple health issues like headaches, fever, or stomach pain for HIV symptoms because of fear and uncertainty. This fear of the unknown often makes people wrongly believe they have been infected.

So, are there other infections that can cause symptoms similar to HIV/AIDS?

First, mononucleosis, commonly called “kissing disease” or “mono,” has early symptoms that are very similar to HIV. These include fever, swollen lymph nodes, tiredness, and body weakness. Many people who fear they have HIV later find out they are actually suffering from mono.

Related to this is the Epstein-Barr virus. In its early stages, this virus can also cause symptoms such as fever, swollen glands, and body pains, which are similar to those seen in early HIV infection.

Third, viral hepatitis is another serious condition that often shows HIV-like symptoms at the beginning. People with viral hepatitis may experience high fever, swollen lymph nodes, body aches, and general discomfort, making it easy to confuse it with HIV.

Fourth, COVID-19 can also present symptoms similar to HIV in its early stages. Although it is a different virus, studies have shown that COVID-19 can cause body changes such as fever, fatigue, and aches that may resemble symptoms seen in HIV.
