Public concern is mounting over 2024 fatal East Legon accident case

Public concern continues to grow over the absence of official updates on a fatal road accident that occurred in October 2024, which resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.

More than a year after the incident, authorities have yet to provide clear information on the progress or outcome of the case.

The renewed calls for accountability were triggered by a social media post from outspoken commentator Bongo Ideas, who questioned the prolonged silence surrounding the matter.

According to the post, the accident allegedly involved a 16-year-old driver, said to be the son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, whose actions reportedly led to the deaths of the two teenagers.

In his commentary, Bongo Ideas stressed that justice should not only be done but must also be seen to be done, insisting that the public has a right to know what steps have been taken since the tragic incident.

He also raised questions about the current status and whereabouts of the juvenile suspect, noting that it is unclear whether the teenager remains at a borstal institution or has been released.

“Two young lives were lost,” the post noted, adding that the lack of official communication has worsened the pain of the victims’ families and encouraged public speculation.
