Late NDC MP goes home

The late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, will be buried on Monday, January 5.

The announcement was made by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Yussif Jajah, after Mr Toure passed away on Sunday, January 4, following a short illness.

Mr Jajah said with the support of President John Dramani Mahama, arrangements were swiftly made to secure the release of the late MP’s body.

In line with Islamic tradition, a Janazah prayer will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the constituency office along the Kanda Highway. The prayer will be led by the National Chief Imam.

After the prayer, the body will be taken to the Madina Cemetery for burial.

Mr Jajah paid tribute to Mahama Naser Toure, describing him as a respected leader whose death has created a significant gap in Parliament and in the Ayawaso East constituency.

He said the late MP, who served four terms in Parliament, made a strong impact through his work and inspired many young politicians. He mentioned initiatives such as “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” which helped improve sanitation and infrastructure in parts of Nima.

He added that Mr Toure also contributed to development in the constituency through road projects, upgrades at the Nima Police Station, and support for the Nima Government Hospital.
