I hold nothing against you, I blame myself – Kwesi Nyantakyi tells Anas

Former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has criticised the investigative approach of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, likening it to what he described as a terrorist-style operation.

Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews TV on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Mr Nyantakyi questioned Anas’s involvement in the 2018 Number 12 investigation, which uncovered corruption in Ghanaian football.

Mr Nyantakyi, a former president of the West African Football Union Zone B, former FIFA Council member, and former vice-president of the Confederation of African Football, was reacting to Anas’s claim that he personally conducted the Number 12 investigation.

The documentary resulted in Mr Nyantakyi’s resignation from his roles at the GFA and CAF and led to a ban from football-related activities imposed by FIFA.

Mr Nyantakyi also said Ghana’s legal system requires that individuals be given a fair hearing before any judgment is passed.

“Because nobody can be condemned in this country unless you are given a fair hearing. If you have not been given that hearing, then you cannot be condemned by the law,” he said.

Despite his criticism, Mr Nyantakyi stated that he holds no personal grudge against Anas and has chosen to reflect on his own actions instead.
