It will take time for Ghanaians to see the extent of work Akufo-Addo did – NPP’s Anthony Karbo
Senior Advisor to the 2025 Bawumia Campaign, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has defended the record of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying history will judge his government more kindly despite the heavy criticism it continues to face, according to citinewsroom.com.

Reacting to claims that the Akufo-Addo administration was one of the worst in Ghana’s history, Karbo said such assessments are rushed and do not take into account the long-term impact of the policies and programmes rolled out during his time in office.
Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face programme on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Karbo argued that the true legacy of the former president will only become clear with time.
“I think vindication is what will serve Akufo-Addo in the course of time. I think a lot of the work Akufo-Addo did as president in eight years, it will take time for Ghanaians to see the extent of work he did,” he said.
He pointed to key initiatives such as the Free Senior High School policy, as well as infrastructure and social intervention projects across the country, as clear signs of the government’s development efforts.
Using his home district of Lawra as an example, Karbo said the area saw major improvements within a short period under Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
He said: “If I take Lawra, for instance, in just four years, the kind of development Akufo-Addo has brought to the district. The first was to elevate Lawra from a district into a municipality. A new TVET, a new SHS, girls’ SHS, water, which was a major issue, the Akufo-Addo government provided 149 boreholes that covered a lot of communities in the first four years.”
Karbo added that when these interventions are assessed over a longer period, they will play a major role in shaping how Ghanaians eventually judge the Akufo-Addo presidency, beyond the current political and economic criticisms…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
