Man arrested for allegedly killing girlfriend after she spend the night with him at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta

A man believed to be in his late 30s has been arrested by the Awutu Jei-Krodua District Police Command for allegedly killing his girlfriend at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

The deceased, known only as Sister Yaa, was found dead in her room, lying in a pool of blood, with a concrete block reportedly placed on her face.

According to police sources, the suspect, who lives at Oboman in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, had gone to visit the woman and spent the night with her.

The incident is said to have occurred after the woman allegedly refused the suspect’s sexual demands.

Initial investigations indicate that the suspect first attacked the deceased with a cutlass, causing injuries to her face, before allegedly hitting her head with a concrete block, leading to her death.

Confirming the incident to Adom News, the Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta and Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, said he was informed about the murder and quickly alerted the Jei-Krodua and Kasoa Ofaakor District Police commands, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary.
