The family of George Ennin, the 53-year-old US-based Ghanaian security guard who was tragically stabbed to death in the Bronx, New York, has expressed deep shock and grief over his loss.

In an interview with News12, Ennin’s sister, Regina Adusi Brenfa, described the family as heartbroken and traumatised. She revealed that she first learned of her brother’s death from television reports and was horrified by the circumstances.

“The autopsy shows that he was pierced in his heart. That’s why he couldn’t survive… I’m afraid to come out, maybe they will kill me like my brother,” she said. Regina added that the last time she heard from her brother was via a WhatsApp voice message, a memory she will cherish forever.

Details of the attack:

Police reports indicate that George Ennin, a father of two, was stabbed multiple times while on his way to work and was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.

CCTV footage of the incident shows 38-year-old Sean Jones, the suspect, crossing paths with Ennin around 2 p.m. at 3077 Third Ave. in Mott Haven and attacking him unprovoked. As Ennin tried to flee, he stumbled, giving Jones the chance to pounce. The video shows Jones holding what appeared to be a knife as he carried out the attack.

After being stabbed, Ennin could be seen staggering, holding his head and calling for help before emergency responders arrived.
