This is beyond arrogance and uncivility – Ken Agyapong dragged to the gutters by NPP youth
NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has faced widespread criticism on social media following an unprovoked verbal attack on former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

A viral video shows Agyapong using unprintable words to accuse Bawumia of claiming that Professor Adu Boahen, the NPP’s 1992 presidential candidate, did not contest the 1996 primaries due to ill health. However, the statement was not made by Bawumia but by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who had cited comments from close associates of Prof. Adu Boahen.
Kennedy Agyapong’s angry and insulting response has drawn widespread condemnation from Ghanaians, many describing his conduct as “disgusting, despicable, and unpresidential.” Critics argue that his attacks reflect personal animosity rather than genuine political discourse.
Social media users highlighted several aspects of Agyapong’s attacks, including his targeting of Bawumia’s faith, ethnicity, and family background, describing these as deliberate attempts to sow division rather than engage in constructive debate.
Commentators such as J. A. Sarbah criticized Agyapong for using “emotional grenades” instead of policy critiques, suggesting that his conduct resembled opposition-style psychological warfare more than normal intra-party rivalry. Sarbah went further to assert, “Recent events confirm the hard truth: Kennedy is not fighting to lead the New Patriotic Party. He appears content to preside over its burial.”
Other party members expressed shock at what they saw as an erosion of party values. Nana Yaw Kesse wrote, “So how does DMB do it? To stay very focused in the face of needless provocation. To be insulted over something you didn’t even say. Bitter people insulting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia left, right, and center. Damn it! I need the personality of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
In contrast to Agyapong’s attacks, Bawumia was widely commended for his composure and tolerance despite being wrongly accused, demonstrating restraint in the midst of extreme provocation.
The incident has sparked broader discussions about political civility within the NPP and the importance of focusing on policy and unity rather than personal attacks in the lead-up to the party’s presidential primaries…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
