Well-known drug dealer arrested in Tamale-Yendi

The IGP Special Operations Team has arrested three suspects, including a known drug peddler, for the possession and sale of suspected Indian hemp.

The arrests were made in Tamale and Yendi during an intensive patrol operation. The suspects are Rahman Simani, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Kasim Abdul Fataw, who were found with different quantities of the suspected illicit substance.

Police said Kasim Abdul Fataw, who is known in drug-related activities, admitted his involvement but claimed he had reduced his activities due to police pressure.

“He was nevertheless arrested to assist police with further investigations,” said DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil of the IGP Special Operations Team.

The police noted that the operation has increased police presence, disrupted suspected criminal activities, and improved public confidence in the Ghana Police Service.

“The swift actions of the team reinforced public confidence in the Ghana Police Service’s ability to maintain law and order and respond effectively to security threats,” DSP Jalil stated.

The suspects are currently in custody at the Sakasaka Police Station as investigations continue, with possible prosecution expected.
