Bring Ofori-Atta home – Akufo-Addo told
Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to persuade his former appointee, Ken Ofori-Atta, to return to Ghana to account for his stewardship.

The former finance minister is facing allegations of corruption linked to questionable deals he is alleged to have handled while in office.
Attempts to extradite Ofori-Atta have so far failed, as he is currently dealing with visa-related legal issues in a United States immigration court.
Commenting on the matter, the outspoken lawyer urged former President Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intervene in the extradition process.
Speaking on Key Points on TV3 on January 24, 2026, Kpebu said Ghanaians gave the NPP the mandate to govern and therefore expect the party to take the fight against corruption seriously.
“Akufo-Addo and the NPP should step in. We gave them the privilege to serve, they had all the privileges, and today what we are getting is international embarrassment,” he said.
He also explained why the extradition effort has been difficult, stating, “The US thrives on a lot of foreign investments and debts. The Japanese and Saudis have billions of investments in the US. Investing in America’s economy comes with protection… Looking at everything, if we judge by paper, it’s a very complex fight.
