Ken Agyapong leads in final poll
Accra, January 30, 2026 – Sanity Africa, a Pan-African civil society organization that conducts governance analysis and political polling, has released its Phase Three voter intention survey for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026. The survey provides a snapshot of delegate preferences ahead of one of the party’s most closely watched internal elections.

The survey, conducted between October 2025 and January 2026, sampled 15,000 delegates across all 276 constituencies, drawn from an expanded delegate list of approximately 211,000 individuals. The study was carried out at a 99% confidence level with a ±5% margin of error. It covers the five main contenders for the NPP flagbearer position: Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (Ken), former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB), former Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong (Bryan), former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (Adutwum), and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyeapong (Kwabena).
Key Findings:
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong leads with 52.0% of delegate support, slightly down from 53.1% in Phase Two.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia follows with 40.0%, up from 39.0% in the previous survey.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong has gained momentum at 7.0%, rising from 5.0%.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum trails at 0.7%, while Kwabena Agyeapong remains at 0.3%.
The survey highlights a continued edge for Agyapong among delegates, though the slight decline in his support and Bawumia’s modest gains suggest a dynamic and competitive race. Bryan Acheampong’s rising numbers indicate growing interest in his candidacy, while the other contenders remain marginal.
Sanity Africa noted that the Phase Three survey captures the evolving sentiment of NPP delegates in the lead-up to the primaries, reflecting the impact of campaign strategies, endorsements, regional dynamics, and messaging by the candidates. The organization also emphasized the accuracy of its previous polling work, including the correct prediction of the Akwatia parliamentary by-election won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP is set to hold its presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with more than 300 polling centres nationwide and an estimated 211,000 delegates expected to vote…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
