Kwaku Computing: Reactions as BECE candidate delivers baby boy whiles writing Computing
An expectant mother writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) gave birth at the Asenua Presbyterian JHS examination centre in the Ashanti Region.

The student reportedly went into labour while writing the computing paper, which was the second paper of the day.
According to eyewitness Osomafo Kwasi Adjei, a policewoman escorting the student to the washroom noticed she was in distress.
“The policewoman after noticing the stress drew the attention of authorities who helped take the student to an office at the centre to deliver,” he said.
Some elderly women in the community quickly stepped in to assist with the delivery and helped ensure both the mother and baby were safe.
After the delivery, the student and her newborn were taken to a nearby private health facility for proper medical care.
JoyNews investigations revealed that the student had been absent from school for several weeks before the examination.
However, the headteacher of her school was able to convince her to return and take part in the exams.
