President Mahama to swear in seven newly appointed justices tomorrow
President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially swear in seven newly appointed justices to the Supreme Court on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The ceremony will take place at the Jubilee House and is expected to be attended by government officials and other dignitaries, according to a report by The Law Platform.

The appointments come after the nominees were vetted and approved by Parliament. The justices—Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Senyo Dzamefe, Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Philip Bright Mensah, Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Hafisata Amaleboba—are all being elevated from the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court.
Before appearing before Parliament, the nominees were reviewed by the Judicial Council, which provided recommendations to the President regarding their qualifications and readiness for the role.
Their nomination was first announced in a letter dated April 29, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama. The appointments were made in line with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution, which grants the President the authority to appoint justices to the Supreme Court.
Once sworn in, the new justices will assume important responsibilities, including interpreting the Constitution and presiding over cases with wide-ranging legal and national consequences.
