Social media calls for the dismissal of female student in trending Legon car video

A video recorded at the University of Ghana’s Jean Nelson Hall has gone viral and sparked heated discussions online.

The footage, which shows a female student with her boyfriend inside a parked car on campus, has raised concerns over privacy, public conduct, and the image of the institution. Although the individuals in the video are not clearly identified, many viewers have criticised the act as inappropriate, especially given the public nature of the setting.

Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Facebook have been flooded with reactions, with several users expressing disappointment in the behaviour displayed. A number of commenters have called for disciplinary action, saying such conduct undermines the university’s standards.

“This is a public space. You’re not just disrespecting yourself but the entire university community,” one user wrote.

“She must be made a scapegoat. This is getting out of hand,” added another, urging the university administration to respond firmly.
