Agradaa was sentenced after a pregnancy test was conducted on her

The Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to 15 years in prison following her conviction on charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences.

The founder of Heaven Way Champion Ministries International Church was found guilty on Thursday, July 3, 2025, after the court determined that she had used a televised broadcast in 2022 to deceive members of the public. In that broadcast, Nana Agradaa claimed she had spiritual powers to double money—a promise that led several individuals to hand over large sums of cash in hopes of instant financial blessings that never came.

Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah, who presided over the case, ruled that Nana Agradaa had carefully orchestrated the scheme, describing it as a clear act of deceit.

Before the sentencing, the court followed standard procedure by ordering a mandatory pregnancy test to confirm whether sentencing could proceed. The test came back negative, clearing the way for the court to pronounce judgment.

Adom News’ Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, who was in court, reported that she was sentenced after a pregnancy test was conducted on her.

The ruling has been seen by many as a strong message against spiritual fraud and manipulative religious practices that exploit vulnerable individuals. Nana Agradaa is expected to begin serving her sentence immediately.
