NPP leadership take over EOCO office
Top officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday stormed the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to demand the immediate release of former Buffer Stock CEO, Alhaji Abdul-Wahab Hannan.

Their visit follows growing discontent among party supporters over Wahab’s continued detention, despite being granted bail of GHS60 million.
Alhaji Wahab and his wife, Faiza, were picked up during a coordinated EOCO operation on June 25 in both Accra and Tamale. The two were arrested over allegations of tax evasion, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
Although Faiza has since been released on a GHS30 million bail, Wahab remains in custody—an issue that has sparked concern and unrest among party faithful.
Party executives who visited EOCO reportedly described Wahab’s continued detention as unacceptable and called on the agency to respect the bail conditions already set by the court.
Sources close to the NPP suggest the party believes the situation is “politically motivated.” Some members have even threatened to escalate the matter if EOCO fails to act quickly on the bail terms and release the former CEO.
