I am happy we came into opposition – NPP’s Seth Acheampong

Former Eastern Regional Minister Seth Acheampong has said that being in opposition is good for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He explained that the NPP is the only political party in Ghana that takes time in opposition to study the system and come up with reforms and ideas that can improve the country.

The former Member of Parliament for the Mpraeso Constituency believes that the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s “reset agenda” will not work because, in his view, they do not have a clear plan.

Seth Acheampong stated that the NPP will repackage the idea in a better and more effective way to benefit Ghanaians.

He said, “It is good that we came into opposition because when we come into opposition, we help Ghana. We are able to do good reforms.”

Speaking in an interview on Channel 1 Television, he added, “I am happy we are in opposition because we are coming to ensure that the reset agenda they are describing — which they will not be able to achieve — definitely, we will package it decently and make Ghana better. That is what we do, and we know how to do it very well.”

He also addressed criticism that the NPP may remain in opposition for a long time.

“They will laugh at us that we will stay in opposition in perpetuity… I wouldn’t want to run my mouth this morning… The party is taking good decisions; let all of us respect the decisions of the political party,” he said.
