The last-minute sacking by Akufo-Addo was very useless – Adwoa Safo
Former Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has openly admitted that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) mistreated Ghanaians during its tenure, leading to widespread dissatisfaction within the party’s base.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Adwoa Safo urged the NPP to rally behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the next election, drawing comparisons to past leaders who faced multiple electoral defeats before eventually winning power.
She further acknowledged the party’s failings, emphasizing that internal actions such as the dismissal of certain individuals and the lack of a cabinet reshuffle for eight years contributed to the discontent among party members and the electorate.
“We know that as a government we were wicked to the Ghanaian people. MPs were targeted when they spoke about the government, but we all know that they were telling the truth.
“Even Prof. Mills didn’t win on his first try. There was no reshuffle during the eight years. Government even sacked some persons and that also affected our base. The last-minute sacking by the president was very useless, and that brought about the apathy,” she remarked.
