FLASHBACK: Aren’t you afraid of me? Can you end my Akonta mining? – Watch as Chairman Wontumi taunts President Mahama
An old video of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has resurfaced online, sparking renewed conversation about his past comments directed at President John Dramani Mahama.

The video, originally recorded in 2013, captures Chairman Wontumi openly challenging and criticizing then-President Mahama, who had just returned as flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In the clip, Wontumi is heard making bold statements, dragging Mahama’s name into political mudslinging and declaring that the president could not touch him or his company, Akonta Mining.
At one point in the video, Wontumi appears to mock the president, questioning his authority and daring him to act. “Aren’t you afraid of me?” he asked, suggesting that President Mahama should be the one to fear him.
He went on to state confidently that no harm could come to his mining operations, asserting that the president had no power to act against Akonta Mining.
The video has resurfaced at a time when Wontumi is facing scrutiny over his alleged involvement in illegal mining activities. His past remarks have added a new layer to the ongoing public discourse around his political influence and business dealings.
