Ablekuma North: Suspected ‘uniformed police impostors’ to cause chaos arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a group of individuals dressed in brown uniforms who were posing as security personnel near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency during the parliamentary election rerun.

According to information gathered by Citi News, these individuals were unable to properly identify themselves when confronted by police officers stationed at the polling center. Their suspicious behaviour and lack of valid identification led to their immediate arrest. They were subsequently taken to the Odorkor Police Station for further investigation.

The suspects were found near the entrance of the polling station, an area secured by official personnel to ensure law and order throughout the voting process. Their presence, without any proper identification or clearance, raised serious concerns about their legitimacy and motives.

John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga West and also the Dean of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Greater Accra Region, confirmed the arrests during an interview with Citi News. He indicated that the police had good reason to believe the arrested individuals were not affiliated with any recognised state security agency.

Police investigations are currently ongoing to determine who the suspects are and what their true intentions were by posing as security officials near a sensitive electoral area. Authorities have yet to publicly confirm whether the individuals were politically motivated or acting on their own.
