I didn’t love the mallam, I fell in love when I slept with him – Young lady cries on radio
A young woman named Esther Wanfuru from Nsawkaw in the Bono Region has come forward with a disturbing account of how she was allegedly manipulated into a sexual relationship by a local herbalist using “juju”—a form of traditional spiritual charm.

Esther appeared on the Oyerepa Afutuo show hosted by Auntie Naa, and monitored by DailyNewsGhana, where she courageously shared her painful experience. According to her, the man, known only as Malam, used spiritual means to influence her thoughts and emotions, eventually luring her into an unwanted relationship.
“Malam is a herbalist. I didn’t love him, but he used juju to charm me,” she said emotionally during the interview. “After the charm, I found myself constantly thinking about him. I couldn’t explain it. I ended up leaving Kumasi to be with him.”
She explained that prior to the incident, she had no romantic feelings for Malam. In fact, she initially avoided him. But after allegedly being spiritually manipulated, her feelings changed in a way she couldn’t understand. She said the charm made her restless and obsessed with him, to the point where she left her life in Kumasi and relocated to live with him.
Esther recounted how, once she moved in with Malam, they engaged in several sexual encounters. However, the relationship that began under questionable circumstances quickly turned sour. Things became even more complicated when she became pregnant.
“I got pregnant after he slept with me. I informed Malam, but he told me point blank that he’s not responsible for the pregnancy,” she stated with disappointment.
According to Esther, after she told Malam about the pregnancy, he changed completely. He started distancing himself from her and treated her with disrespect and rejection. She said he refused to acknowledge her or the unborn child, leaving her confused and heartbroken.
