Cowgirl, is the most dangerous s3x position – Dr. Esther Agbozo explains how

A medical doctor, Esther Agbozo, has advised both men and women to be cautious about the sex positions they choose during intercourse, warning that some positions can cause serious harm, especially to men.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show with host Kafui Dey, Dr. Agbozo highlighted the “cowgirl” position—where the woman is on top of the man and moves up and down—as one of the more risky positions for men.

She explained that during this position, if the penis accidentally slips out and forcefully hits the woman’s pelvic bone, it could result in a penile fracture. Though many people are unaware, she noted that the penis, even when erect, can break because it’s made up of muscle tissue that can rupture under intense pressure.

“When you are practicing any sex position, you should ensure it is not causing harm to you, both male and female,” she said.

Dr. Agbozo shared that her concern is based on a real-life case she encountered, where a man was rushed to the hospital after suffering a painful penile fracture during sex.

“I’ve had a patient come in with a penile fracture where the penis actually broke. The penis can break, even when erect, because it has muscles. So, those muscles can rupture. We had to repair it surgically, straight away. The erection goes away, and the person comes in with so much pain. We were able to fix it, and he testified that it works.”

According to her, the injury happened during sex when the couple was using the cowgirl position. She said the man explained that during intercourse, the penis slipped and hit the pelvic bone with force, causing the injury.

“What we would call the cowgirl position—woman on top, facing the man—she was moving that way, and then maybe he missed the hole. The penis ended up hitting the pelvic bone, and with pressure applied, it broke,” Dr. Agbozo explained.

She used the opportunity to caution couples to pay attention to safety during sex and to avoid getting too carried away, especially with positions that involve vigorous movements.
