Watch what happened when MP for Essikado-Ketan met Afenyo-Markin after their banter
The Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Professor Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has been seen in a viral video squatting in front of the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as the two shared a friendly chat.

The video emerged less than 24 hours after a heated exchange between the two on the floor of Parliament.
During proceedings on July 14, 2025, Afenyo-Markin, who is also the MP for Effutu, became visibly upset and instructed Prof. Ayensu-Danquah to sit down, claiming she was out of order while he was addressing the House. He criticised her conduct, asserting that as a new MP, she should not interrupt a parliamentary leader.
Afenyo-Markin further questioned her suitability for ministerial appointment, expressing surprise that she had been considered for a role while more senior party members like Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and Helen Ntoso had not.
“My colleague, your name is not even on the list yet. We’ve only heard rumours that you’ll appear before the Appointments Committee, and this is what you choose to be doing?” he said.
Prof. Ayensu-Danquah, the Deputy Minister of Health-designate, strongly objected to the comments. She addressed the Speaker, calling Afenyo-Markin’s remarks offensive and discriminatory toward women in Parliament.
“There are only 14% of women in this House, and some of these statements are very discouraging. I was simply waiting to catch your eye when I was attacked for no reason,” she said.
She urged the Speaker to expunge parts of Afenyo-Markin’s statement from the record and called for a more respectful and inclusive atmosphere for female lawmakers.
Despite the earlier confrontation, the viral video appears to show the two MPs reconciling, with Prof. Ayensu-Danquah seen squatting in front of Afenyo-Markin as they laughed and chatted.
