Just because you have bailed Wontumi doesn’t make him your slave – NPP’s David Boakye slams Bryan Acheampong

The Bono East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Boakye, has shared what transpired between Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and Mr. Bryan Acheampong during the recent National Council meeting.

Speaking in a phone interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV, Boakye revealed that a simple interjection from Chairman Wontumi prompted Bryan Acheampong to respond, “Sit down, shut up; I just bailed you.”

He explained that Chairman Wontumi had attempted to interject while Bryan was speaking, which led to Bryan’s unexpected comment.

Boakye noted that the remark caught many in the room off guard.

“I think there was an element of surprise in the room, but again, people couldn’t really tell if it was a joke,” he said.

It is known that Bryan Acheampong helped secure bail for Chairman Wontumi when he was detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

However, David Boakye stressed that Chairman Wontumi could have easily secured bail on his own if the law had permitted it.

“Just because you have bailed someone doesn’t make him your slave,” he added.
