Two NPP members hit with sad news

Two members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Shamsudeen Iddrisu and Boateng Kwadwo, have taken legal action to block the party’s upcoming Extraordinary National Delegates Conference.

The two filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction at the High Court in Accra, seeking to halt the event, which is scheduled to take place from July 18 to 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Represented by Agyemang Duah of CharisBrit Legal Consult, the plaintiffs submitted the motion on July 14, 2025. They contend that the planned conference violates internal party protocols and could interfere with a separate legal challenge they have already initiated. The court is being asked to freeze all conference activities until the core dispute is resolved.

According to court filings, Iddrisu and Kwadwo believe proceeding with the conference could compromise the integrity of the ongoing legal process. Their request, made under Order 25 of the High Court Civil Procedure Rules (C.I. 47), also calls for any additional orders the court may consider appropriate to ensure a fair outcome.

At the time of this report, the NPP had not issued an official statement in response to the motion.

The Extraordinary National Delegates Conference is expected to play a key role in redefining the party’s direction following its 2024 electoral defeat. A suspension or delay could significantly affect the party’s internal reorganisation and preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
