I will not condemn any attack on Hawa Koomson – Hanna Bisiw
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stirred controversy after declining to condemn a recent attack on former Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson during the Ablekuma North parliamentary primary rerun.

The incident took place at one of 19 polling stations during the July 11 rerun, where Hawa Koomson was reportedly assaulted amid chaotic scenes. While several political figures and observers have condemned the violence, Dr. Bisiw-Kotei firmly stated that she would not express any sympathy.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face programme on Tuesday, July 15, she cited her personal and political history with Hawa Koomson as the basis for her stance.
“I will not condemn any attack on her. I condemn any form of attack anyhow, anywhere. But nobody should push me to condemn the attack on Hawa Koomson. Why would I do that?” Bisiw stated.
She emphasized that her decision was not driven by malice but by a refusal to invest emotional energy in the matter.
“I will not even waste my emotions on Hawa Koomson,” she said.
