69-year-old man Ghanaian man killed, blood sucked

A suspected mentally challenged young man has allegedly murdered 69-year-old Francis Quarm at Kansaworado, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region.

The suspect, who had reportedly been exhibiting strange behaviour in recent times, is said to have stormed the victim’s home with a machete, forced his way into his room, and butchered him while he was asleep.

Paulina Quarm, the daughter of the deceased, told Connect FM’s Paa Kwesi Simpson that the family heard screams from a tenant and rushed to find the suspect attacking her father unprovoked.

“My father is a landlord. We heard one of the tenants shouting for help early in the morning. The suspect had broken into his room and started attacking him with a machete,” she recounted, according to 3news.com.

Despite the loud cries for help, no one could intervene due to the suspect’s aggressive nature.

According to Crime Check Ghana, the suspect also sucked the blood of the deceased.

George Cobbinah, the Assembly Member for the area, confirmed the suspect’s erratic behaviour in recent days. He noted that the suspect had earlier attacked his own mother—leaving her hospitalised—and had also threatened a church congregation with a machete.

“We tried to capture him after those incidents, but he vanished—until this morning, when we heard the devastating news of Mr. Quarm’s death,” Mr. Cobbinah added.

The suspect was later arrested by police after the brutal murder of Francis Quarm, who was popularly known as Gabo.
