Here is the new NDC constitution causing chaos

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has approved a major reform at its National Delegates Conference, making the role of Director of Communications an elected position rather than an appointed one.

The change, endorsed during the conference held on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, is aimed at giving grassroots members the power to choose who they believe can effectively represent and communicate the party’s message.

According to party officials, the previous system of appointment led to favoritism and tensions among the party’s communication team. However, the position of Deputy Communications Director will remain by appointment.

Meanwhile, the NPP’s 2024 Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, used the occasion to call for unity and an end to internal divisions and public attacks as the party prepares for the January 31 flagbearer election.

“I want to use this occasion to appeal to all party faithful: let us stop the internal attacks now,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“The NDC is our opponent, not ourselves. We cannot go into this election divided and expect to win,” he emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia warned that disunity only weakens the party’s chances and called for internal criticism to be addressed through the right channels. He urged members to maintain discipline, maturity, and solidarity to strengthen the party’s public image.

“We have a lot to be proud of as a party, but we must guard against actions that undermine our collective strength,” he noted. “Together, we can win the 2028 general election. But first, we must be united.”

Addressing recent violence during the rerun of the parliamentary election in Ablekuma North, Dr. Bawumia vowed that those responsible will face justice.

“I wish to call on the President to prosecute the perpetrators of the violence in Ablekuma North. If they fail to do so, we shall prosecute them when we assume power in 2029, because the elephant does not forget.”
