NPP was forced to delete Bawumia’s image from conference flyers – Report

Former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has revealed that some members of the party compelled organisers of the recent delegates conference to remove Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s image from all banners and flyers ahead of the event.

He stated that the organisers complied, removing the image of the former Vice President and NPP flagbearer in the 2024 elections from the main promotional materials for the conference, which took place on July 19, 2025.

Nana Akomea made this disclosure during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

He noted that the NPP had initially designed flyers for the delegates conference featuring images of notable party figures, including two former presidents, J.A. Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Also included were pictures of former Vice President Aliu Mahama and other key members of the party, all prominently displayed on the event’s official flyer.

However, the image of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who recently served as Vice President and led the party into the 2024 general elections as its presidential candidate, was notably absent.

According to Nana Akomea, the former Vice President’s image had been included in the original design. But organisers were later pressured to remove it due to objections from some party members who argued that its inclusion would provide him with an unfair advantage.

“Have you seen the posters that were designed for the conference? They contained the images of big party stalwarts, Bawumia was part because he is the former vice president…

“Do you know that some people agitated till Bawumia’s picture was taken out because of the in-fighting around the party’s flagbearership? I’m deeply convinced that the proposal by Kwabena Agyapong for early primary is best proposal that the NPP has had in recent years,” he emphasised.

He further suggested that holding an early primary would be the solution the party needs to strengthen unity and achieve its goals.
