Here is NDC timetable and guidelines for Akwatia parliamentary primaries

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the official timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary primaries in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region, following a vacancy that has triggered a by-election.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and issued on Friday, July 25, nominations are set to open on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Submission of completed nomination forms is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30. Vetting, balloting, and appeals will follow on Thursday, July 31. The primaries will take place on Monday, August 4, 2025, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

As part of efforts to promote inclusivity and gender equity, the party has announced a 50% reduction in filing fees for women and persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

Nomination forms are to be picked up and submitted at the NDC’s Eastern Regional Office. Access to the delegates’ list will be granted only after the approved filing fee has been paid.

The statement further emphasized that all payments must be made directly into the NDC’s official account at UMB Bank, Adabraka Branch, with no cheques or bankers’ drafts accepted.

The party also urged all aspirants and supporters to conduct themselves with fairness, discipline, and in accordance with the democratic principles of the NDC.
