JUST IN: Bawku SHS shut down
The Bawku Senior High School has been temporarily shut down by the Municipal Education Directorate following a fatal shooting incident involving a final-year student, Hakim Kundima, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.

The shooting occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2025, around 8:30 P.M.
Unknown gunmen reportedly scaled the school’s perimeter wall, stormed the dormitory, and dragged the student outside before shooting him in what appears to have been a targeted attack.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident, and no arrests have been made as of the latest updates.
Tahiru Kundima, the victim’s elder brother, confirmed his death and told the media that the Bawku Divisional Police Commander personally delivered Hakim’s body to the family.
He suggested that the attack may be linked to the ongoing conflict in the Bawku area, which has seen repeated violence over the years.
In response, the Bawku Municipal Director of Education, Isaac Agbeko Azasoo, ordered the school’s temporary closure on Sunday, July 27, citing concerns over student and staff safety.
The tragedy coincided with a separate violent attack at Nalerigu Senior High School, where two students were also shot and killed by unidentified assailants on the same night.
These incidents have sparked serious concerns about the safety of students in the region’s senior high schools.
